Abstract

The following research work was developed in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Santa Clara de Asís University (USCA), with the objective of determining the pH range (Hydrogen Potential) of rainwater at different points from the cities of Caaguazú and Juan Manuel Frutos to analyze if it is in the normal or acid range considering the level of contamination in the surrounding cities and in the Brazilian region. Sampling of rainwater began in different neighborhoods where the students who are in the second year of the Biochemistry career of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Santa Clara de Asís University (USCA) live randomly. For the taking and handling of the samples, the students are provided with different bottles previously examined, free of any contaminating substance, the sample is collected after at least two times (morning and afternoon). They are transferred in refrigerated form to the laboratory and the measurement is taken after a maximum of 48 hours, registering in a form. The sample collection period was carried out from February to November of the year 2021. As a result of the investigation, it was possible to establish the pH range of the rain in the cities of Caaguazú and Juan Manuel Frutos Frutos between 5.62 as minimum and 5.86 as maximum, thus demonstrating that the rainwater analyzed in that period of time does not register acidity.
