Abstract

Marjolin’s ulcer is the result of malignant degeneration from a chronic wound or scar. These ulcers appear mainly in advanced lepromatous forms due to involvement of the peripheral nervous system, although we can also see them in the tuberculoid form of leprosy. They are usually recurrent lesions of years of evolution, preferably located in the middle and lower third of the lower extremities and malleoli. In most cases, early diagnosis and treatment allow for a successful recovery; but the ignorance of the subject by the medical assistance personnel and the scarce follow-up in time of the chronicity of the lesions with disorder or delayed healing, make the Marjolin ulcer a dangerous disease because it is an entity in which it is not thought early and that can appear in any clinical-surgical specialty.

Pte. M.D. A 79-year-old male, a native of Yhú, presents an activated ulcer lesion compatible with a vascular lesion, approximately 4 years of age. evolution that does not heal, painless and odorless, on the back of the left foot of 8x6 cm approx. with hyperchromic raised erythematous edges not delimited of oval pink color, presenting in the center an ulcerative lesion with yellowish meliceric crusts. Tail alopecia is also seen on both eyebrows.
